OFF-SEASON WRESTLING |
Many CVCA Wrestlers choose to continue to improve their wrestling skills before and after the wrestling season. CVCA has proven to have some of the hardest working and committed wrestlers in the state of Ohio and the entire country. The dedication and committment of the wrestlers at CVCA have shown to pay dividends every year in late February and early March when the words "C.V. CHRISTIAN" are on the leader board at the State Tournament.
Wrestlers from CVCA can be seen at wrestling camps all over the country during the off-season. Every year there are CVCA wrestlers at the toughest and most intense wrestling camps in the nation. Some of the camps that are frequented by our wrestlers are the Navy Seal Wrestling Camp, Ohio State Wrestling Camp, Michigan State High Intensity Wrestling Camp, Ohio Elite Wrestling Camp, Penn State Wrestling Camp, Messiah College Wrestling Camp, Jeff Jordan's State Champ Camp, and Campbellsville Tiger Takedown Camp, just to name a few.

CVCA Wrestlers often continue in the sports of Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling throughout the year. Many of which have had great success. As a CVCA Wrestler Harry Lester was a six time All-American at the National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota earning a Cadet Greco-Roman National Championship in 1999 and a Junior Greco-Roman National Championship in 2000. Harry also competed in Poland and brought a Freestyle Cadet World Championship back to CVCA in 1999. Two time CVCA State Champion John Weakley had a great deal of success as a Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestler and was a Junior Greco-Roman National Runner-Up and Freestyle All-American in 2006. Weakley also earned Cadet All-American honors in 2005.
Many other wrestlers have had a history of great success competing in the sports of Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling. Most recently, Jared Kusar became a Freestyle All-American finishing 7th in 2008. 2007 CVCA Graduate Thomas Windom was a Cadet Greco-Roman All-American finishing 7th in 2005. Another CVCA Graduate, John Sinchok excelled in the sports of Freestyle and Greco and recently became a University Greco-Roman All-American in 2008. Chris Smolk (Cadet All-American in 1998), Andy Vogel, and Jarrad Turner are some of the former CVCA wrestlers who have competed at the highest levels of the sport.
